This page contains photographs, prints, films, sound recordings, posters and topographical maps of the city and its surroundings. Much of the material is online, but sometimes you have to come to the reading room to view or listen to the material. Results will be shown in Dutch.

Start searching broadly
Type your search term in the 'all fields' box. If you get too many results, add one or more keywords.
You can also fill in the ‘period’ box with a year. You can also search by ‘maker’. This is the photographer, filmmaker, director, artist or designer of the document.

Date: 1920 - 1940
Creator: Groeneveld
Did you find too few results? Then you can combine different terms with the word OR between them.
For example: cinema OR art house OR film theatre.
Useful search tips
- With a $ sign before a search term, you can search for words that are similar. For example: $mulder. This will return mulder as well as muller, mulders or ulder.
- A ? replaces one letter.
- A * replaces a number of letters.
- Never start a search term with a ? or *, as this type of search takes a long time.
- It does not matter whether you use upper or lower case.
- Some words are difficult to search for. For example, ‘The’ does not yield any results.
- Use double quotation marks before and at the end of your search term to search precisely. For example: ‘The visit to Rotterdam’.
Refine the result further
You can further refine your search results by using the filter options. Here you can filter by type of material, by descriptions with or without files, or by images that are downloadable.
Sorting the results
You can sort the search results by date, number or last change.
The display of your results
Use the display icons on the green bar to change the way your results are presented. Here you can, for example, choose to display images and descriptions instead of just images.

In Dutch the phrase 'Voorbeeld niet beschikbaar' means 'image is not available', and means that it is not available digitally or for online use. This may be due to conditions of copyright or the image may not yet be digitised.
